GROW

The GROW peer support program offers the opportunity to find new friendships and support at a weekly meeting of caring people, offering a new way of coping with life’s problems with the help of others.

A weekly GROW group meets

  • each Monday evening 5.00-7.00pm

What is GROW?
GROW is a community mental health movement organised and led by people recovering and recovered from mental illness or from various other inadequacies or problems of life. GROW provides mutual support, self-help groups for people who are experiencing difficulty in coping with their personal problems who meet each week to support one another through personal friendship and a special 12-Step Program. Through the GROW Program many people have found a fuller, healthier and happier life.

Who attends GROW?
GROW groups are open to everyone and the problems and diagnoses are many and varied. They include people experiencing:

  • Relationship/Family Problems
  • Family member/partner with mental illness or problem
  • Stress-related problems
  • Lack of self esteem
  • Loneliness and rejection
  • Food/drug/alcohol addictions
  • Depression
  • Post Natal Depression
  • Bi-polar effective Disorder
  • Schizophrenia
  • Anxiety & Panic Disorder

What goes on?
GROW groups vary in size from three to ten members. No referrals are needed, just come along! Members of a group offer a person in distress or unable to cope, the friendly help and shared experiences of other members of the group. All discussions during the meetings are strictly confidential and membership of the group is anonymous.

GROW has no affiliation with any organised religion, church or political group. GROW groups are run by their own members.
