D2DL Group Activities each Week
Creative Canvas - Tuesdays, 9.00am-12.00pm
Come and get creative on Tuesdays! We prepare a large canvas in a variety of weird and wonderful ways, creating a masterpiece using texture paste, wire, tin and other metals – and anything else you’d like to add! Each month we attempt to complete one canvas and, in the process, learn new artistic skills and techniques. Facilitated by Fee at MHACA.
Mandala Drawing - Tuesdays, 1.30-4.00pm
Mandalas – round drawings using symbols and colour – are a wonderful key to unlock and heal physical, emotional and spiritual blockages. The "circle with a center" pattern is the basic structure of creation as seen in nature and in biology, geology, chemistry, physics and astronomy. Creating mandalas promotes self-awareness and self-healing. Facilitated by Lynne Kennedy at MHACA.
Singing - Wednesdays, 2.00-3.30pm
Everyone has a voice! This is a mixed group for people who enjoy singing to lighten their day … and who are also working on writing their own songs. Even if you are not too sure about singing, come along and use the tambourine, clacking sticks or other innovative tools. Facilitated by David Rowenfeld at MHACA.
Creative Beadwork - Wednesdays, 7.00-9.00pm
These beadwork classes provide basic skills in working with beads and creating your own jewellery. Anything goes! – from earrings to necklaces to artistic pieces … any projects you want to explore with beads. Everyone is welcome. Facilitated by Stephanie Kostevsek at MHACA.
Healthy Eating @ MHACA - Thursdays, 10am-1pm
Each Thursday morning there is a Health Eating Group which focuses on healthy choices and cooking budget cuisines for a health lifestyle. There will be a variety of health information and tips to bring more energy to your day. Facilitated by Esta at MHACA.
Writing & Story Group - Thursdays, 1.30-4.00pm
A popular activity, every Thursday afternoon people meet to explore creative ways of story-telling and the healing affect of this in our lives. So far we have worked on individual stories and poetry which we’re recording onto DVD. All contributions are voluntary & everyone is encouraged to go at their own pace. Why not come and join in. Facilitated by Tanya Elgalal at MHACA.
GROW Group - Fridays, 10.30am-12.30pm
Every Friday there is a peer support self-help group for anyone experiencing difficulty in coping with their personal problems. GROW offers support through friendship and a special 12-step program.
