Suicidal Crisis Recovery Worker

We are seeking a Suicidal Crisis Recovery Worker.

The Recovery Worker is responsible for providing assertive and timely follow-up care for people referred to MHACA following a suicide attempt or suicidal crisis. This role requires someone with sound case management and outreach support skills. Knowledge of recovery-orientated support and trauma-informed care in suicide prevention would be an advantage.

The person in this role will be resourced with training and ongoing support mechanisms including clinical supervision.

This role will engage with a diverse range of community members and with consent of the person will undertake risk assessments, develop support plans and provide referral pathways to other appropriate services.

The role is full time – 38 hours a week. Contract until June 2026.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide aftercare services to individuals who have been referred following a suicide attempt or suicidal crisis.
  • Help develop aftercare support model through co-design processes in line with MHACA’s existing services and assist with service delivery review and refinement.
  • Work with client to assess risks, identify individual ongoing treatment needs, and develop a Support Plan that identifies recovery goals.
  • Build and maintain strong referral pathways, including but not limited to the following services: acute care services, primary care services, police, funeral services, Alcohol and Other Drug Services, and other mainstream mental health services.
  • Undertake reporting on aftercare activities in line with Service Agreement requirements including ensuring appropriate data collection.
  • Maintain client confidentiality.
  • Work with clients presenting with complex and co-occurring needs.
