December Group Activities Calendar

Highlights in December include MHACA’s Christmas Lunch on Wednesday 20 December. All participants are invited to join, just talk to a Drop-In staff member or call MHACA if you would like to attend.

Swimming activity is back on the calendar every Wednesday of the month, except on the 20th as we are hosting the Christmas lunch. Join Lucinda and get some gentle exercise at the Alice Springs Town Pool. Bring your swimmers and jump in!

Weekend activities include Cinema, Ten Pin Bowling and a BBQ at the Telegraph Station.

In addition to structured activities, a Drop-in Centre is open Monday 8.30am – 1.30pm, Tuesday – Friday from 8.30am to 3.00pm.

The Drop-in Centre is a welcoming space where people can connect with others and participate in activities. It provides:

  • a comfy lounge area
  • kitchen facilities
  • computers with internet access
  • activities such as board games and craft
  • musical instruments
  • laundry and bathroom facilities.

Eating well, exercising regularly, getting enough sleep, and avoiding alcohol and smoking support our wellbeing. Smoking and alcohol are often used when people are under stress, but these addictive substances can make symptoms worse in the long run. Whilst they can create an immediate sense of relaxation, people who use them then experience withdrawal symptoms which can increase anxiety. Smoking is not recommended and Australian guidelines for alcohol use for healthy adults is no more than 2 standard drinks a day.
