September Group Activities Calendar

The monthly Group Activities program provides a range of therapeutic activities for people living with mental illness. It provides a focus on educational pursuits, personal development, living skills, social connection and includes recreational outings. The program is for participants with and without a NDIS Plan who have completed the MHACA intake interview.

In addition to structured activities, a Drop-in Centre is open Monday 8.30am – 1.30pm, Tuesday – Friday from 8.30am to 3.00pm.

The Drop-in Centre is a welcoming space where people can connect with others and participate in activities. It provides:

  • a comfy lounge area
  • kitchen facilities
  • computers with internet access
  • activities such as board games and craft
  • musical instruments
  • laundry and bathroom facilities.

Thank you to our friends at Multicultural Community Services Central Australia (MCSCA) for a fantastic Women’s Health Week Health and Wellbeing Event!

MHACA shared mental health and wellbeing information and resources and had some great conversations about looking after our mental health. We also had a great time participating in the workshops, enjoying the nutritious and delicious food, and taking some time to relax and connect over the weekend.

MHACA is seeking a Mental Health Recovery Worker (male identified)

Do you have a passion for supporting people in our community?

Mental Health Recovery Workers provide non-clinical supports to people living with mental health challenges and psychosocial disability. Recovery Workers assist participants in setting goals and actions as part of a Stay Strong Recovery Plan. The goals are individual to the person but may include things like developing or rediscovering social and living skills, access to training and employment opportunities and participation within the community through engagement in activities. The supports can provided at MHACA, at the participants home or in the community. This position will be supporting male participants, including Aboriginal men, and as such is male identified to provide culturally responsive supports.

We are looking for someone who has case management or support work experience who can work with flexibly in a dynamic organisation. An ability to easily develop rapport with people from a range of backgrounds is essential.

SALARY LEVEL: $93,201.99 – $100,286.94 (MHACA EBA/SCHADS Level 4) + 12% super
POSITION HOURS: 38 hours a week. Full-time and ongoing.
