Suicide Prevention Forum A Success

A diverse group of more than 70 people have come together for the Central Australian Suicide Prevention Forum at the Desert Knowledge Precinct in May 2023. The forum has a focus on keeping the conversation happening in our community about preventing suicide and showcasing successful suicide prevention and postvention initiatives.

A special thankyou to all of our presenters including 13 Yarn, Aboriginal Medical Services Alliance Northern Territory, MATES in Construction QLD & NT, Central Australian Aboriginal Congress, National Wellbeing Alliance, Northern Territory PHN, MacDonnell Regional Council, Royal Flying Doctor Service SA/NT, Multicultural Community Services of Central Australia, Mental Health Services Central Australia Region, Teddy McDiarmid and Kylie Buzzacott, Alison Cunnynghame, and Code 4 Life at Desert Knowledge Australia

It's been a great week at the Suicide Prevention Australia National Conference in Adelaide. More than 700 people from across the country have come together to share stories, research and new initiatives in suicide prevention and postvention. Nicole and Lynn from MHACA's Health Promotion and Suicide Prevention Training teams will be coming back with new inspiration. Nicole also shared reflections from the NT in the presentation: "Alice Springs - More than just bad media. Suicide Prevention in a remote context."

If you need support, talk to someone you trust or call Lifeline on 13 11 14, 13Yarn on 13 92 76, Beyond Blue on 1300 224 636 or Suicide Call Back Service on 1300 659 46 for 24/7 crisis support.
