Social media allows us to stay connected with distant family and friends or access valuable information, but it can also have a negative effect on people. It can be addictive, lead to feelings of isolation and expose us to harmful content which can contribute to anxiety and depression.

Check out MHACA's new animation which explores how spending time on social media can impact our mental health - it encourages us to spend more time offline, and engage with friends and family.

The animation is available in Arrernte, Pintubi-Luritja, Warlpiri, and Pitjantjatjara. Watch all versions at youtube.com/@mhaca0870/videos

🌈 Go Rainbow Against Discrimination 🌈

IDAHOBIT - International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism, and Transphobia - community event is on Friday 16 May between 11am - 2pm at the Uniting Church lawns, Todd Mall, Alice Springs. Join us to celebrate this year’s theme “The Power of Communities” and increase connection and social inclusion for the LGBTQIA+ community in Mparntwe/Alice Springs. Everybody is welcome!

MHACA acknowledges that LGBTIQIA+ individuals are more vulnerable to experiencing mental health challenges compared to their heterosexual and cisgender peers, due to discrimination, stigma and the stress of feeling different. We support the right to safe, inclusive, accessible and culturally appropriate services. To find out more about IDAHOBIT, visit idahobit.org.au
