Walking Beside You in Recovery
The NT Aftercare Service is a free, voluntary, and non-clinical program for non-Indigenous adults (18+) residing in Alice Springs who have experienced a suicidal crisis.
Delivered by the Mental Health Association of Central Australia, this three-month program offers inclusive, flexible, and person-centred support. We welcome people from all backgrounds, including culturally and linguistically diverse communities and the LGBTQIA+ community.
For First Nations people, a dedicated Aftercare Program is available through Central Australian Aboriginal Congress, with both services working together to ensure safe, culturally appropriate referrals.
Our team meets people where they are, focusing on safety, connection, and recovery. Grounded in lived experience, our approach is built on respect, compassion, and genuine care. Support may include:
- Safety planning
- Help to make or attend appointments.
- Referrals to clinical or community services
- A wellness and recovery plan
- Regular check-ins via phone, text or in person based on your preference.
With verbal or written consent, referrals to the NT Aftercare Service can be made by phone or email. We aim to respond within 24–48 hours on weekdays.
Please note: the Aftercare Service is not a crisis service. If someone’s life is in immediate danger, call 000 or go directly to the hospital.
